DEFAULT Product Packs - Taking into consideration pack AND box size ; vs only pack
I find it important to share the following observation and make the suggestions with regard to the SETUP of Default Products Packs and BOX size associated with the Specific Product.
This detail affects; sales/ purchasing / shipping/ accounting/ and overall management!
I suggest: it is necessary for the system to restrict the box type (*qb/hb/fb) when entering a prebook for a specific item so that it matches the setup of default product pack and box size.
in detail : if i create a code for a product ; HOLLAND MIX BOX (TULIP/IRIS/FREESIA) as its ONLY default box size; it should ONLY allow the user specifically : salesperson to enter it as a QB ; it should NOT allow the salesperson to change it to an EB or a HB; unless there is ALSO a default box pack for either size and it associates the following detailed pack.
The reason this is an issue; if the manager takes the time to set up default packs box box size and pack are considered ; then, a salesperson doesnt know the dimention and they change it to a 'HB half box' because that is all they are use to selling; and then the BUYER buys it as a HB because they are expecting the detail to be correct; but they seemed overlook the box size; even though the buyer can catch the mistake and correct it; the system should restrict to ONLY being able to order that item with its default product pack and box size; it shoudl NOT allow that user to create an order for a HB of (iris/tulips/freesia ) packed 3 bunches of 50 stems/ or 15 bunches of 10 stems ; whatever is so determined.
By this being an option it is incorreclty calculating GPM for the buyer and the salesperson if during the FAST PACE flower business, its purchased and it arrives and gets invoiced within 2-3 days of its original order, it does not allow the buyer time in order to 'reconsile' and double check and correct the mistake of the data created by the user/salesperson.
this ultimatley leads to the miss-calculation of Freight; the incorrect GPM is accounted for; and ultimatley the company is only making 7 % on the box vs the 15, 20 or 25% so determined.
if the system is able to restrict the BOX TYPE to the defauled pack and box size; it would fix this problem!

There is an option that already exists in the system that will resolve this. Using the default product packs option and selecting the check box under the box types to only show the box types that have a box type configured, will resolve your need.
